Charity work in Bangalore

Dear Everyone, i had a chance to partake in a charitable event in Bangalore. we were more than fifteen consultant surgeons from UK and India. we did consultation and operated on more than seventy quite disabled and socially disadvantaged children from different parts of Karnataka and Adjacent states. the experience was moving even for me who deals with patients with problems. some of the operations we did were quite complex and not done routinely in India. hence it needed the expertise of people from UK

I will post some photos soon

It gave inspiration to us who are already involved in charitable event.

we need to mobilise money and people if we want to progress in the work we already do

BONE AND JOINT WALK TRICHY

Dear Everyone, we conducted successfully the first ever bone and joint walk in Trichy. it was well covered by newspapers locally and in The Hindu and The New Indian Express. first let me share some photos through our web site. further to my previous blog on bone and joint awareness problems in India. we focused our efforts to improve among the general public.

The bone and joint walk is essentially an effort to group people who had benefitted by bone and joint surgery and primarily joint replacements. this is based on the model we use regularly in UK called Hip and Knee walk. this shows that patients can function especially normal walking which is what had been missing in their day to day life. we take for granted walking is possible for everyone. but then when u see these arthritic patients who are unable to walk even indoors ,u realize that how lucky we are.

to be able to give that ability to walk without pain is why we go further to bring complex and yet successful treatment like knee and hip replacements to patients. when u are able to do for people in Trichy where i had studied and able to provide the treatment for patients from your native place and surrounding villages, it gives satisfaction. is it not the reason why chose Medicine as my career. to be able to help other people.

Sugam Charitable Trust first Medical Camp

The first medical camp we organised went very well. the target patient population group were ladies above the age of 40. we assessed over 84 ladies and we finished in one day. four doctors were involved, along with the back up of senior nurses and junior well trained nurses with countless number of volunteers. the special mention goes to the volunteers without which this camp would have gone nowhere.

the KMC group did their work with a smiling face, not showing the tiredness which was unavoidable given the scale of the work. the ladies to whom the service did not show unhappiness when made to wait for their turn. Ms Kalavathi did public awareness with a powerpoint presentation made possible only with Saravnan's expertise after initial hiccup was due to the laptop. dont trust the computer ever, keep someone like saravanan on your side on a given day!

Sasi and the troop gave refreshments along the way on a tiring day

Sugam Charitable trust well done!!!!

the senior doctors Dr Rajarathinam and Dr Mathimaraiselvan started off the proceedings with a little talk and the invited doctor Dr Geetha Ravi did not blink her eyelid until the work was done. Thank you Dr Geetha Ravi

Last but not the least is the food organised for the people who made this camp possible. it was simply excellent and delicious. Thanks to Sugam Charity administration for organising the cook and thank you The Chef, we will call you again.

next camp on april 2010
